Mexico Trip: Part 2

December 30th, 2008 · No Comments

We started the second day, Wednesday December 24th by having breakfast at one of the hotel restaurants. One thing I love about the BF here is the coffee. I haven’t had such a tasty coffee since long time! After breakfast, we decided to spend the rest of the morning by the pool. It was unbelievable to know that while at home in Montreal, the weather was below the freezing point, here in Cancun, we were sitting by the pool trying to find some shade cause the sun was too hot!

As it’s always a good idea to eat at different places, we decided to get out of the hotel and find somewhere for lunch. In this way, we would be able to know the city better. “Vips” was the place we found close to the hotel; a clean, big restaurant. We were lucky to have English menus over there as the waitress noticed that she has to explain everything in English every time she comes to the table! Mexican food was for sure my choice!

After lunch, it was time to go around and see the city and know more about the local culture. This is one good reason to come downtown (instead of the staying just at the hotel zone in Cancun as I mentioned before). One would not believe that in Cancun, not necessarily at the hotel zone, there are big American style malls.

For the evening, going to the hotel zone seemed to be a good choice. From anywhere downtown, you can take the bus (any routes, R1, R2, etc.) to go there and that costs you just 6.5 pesos.

In Cancun, it seems that you can wave to the bus driver anywhere on the road and he will stop for you; As buses only take money (no tickets), more passengers they have, more money they collect! And this is the reason that there is no day, week, or monthly passes. The fun thing about the buses is the music and that makes a ride more interesting!

To be continued…
